I was never an athletic person growing up. The extent of my sport included an occasional gymnastics class and being on the JV cheer squad. My husband found it while I was pregnant with our son. He would come home talking about complex movements and community and I was anxious to try. Three months after our son was born, I started at CrossFit Utility in Akron, Ohio. Since then, I’ve learned that I DO have coordination and I AM athletic after all.

I grew up obsessed with sports. I’ve competed in college and had the opportunity to play a bit overseas. I went to North Central University in Minneapolis for Education, which led me to teaching and coaching in Milwaukee, and then took me to Saipan for a few years. It was during the summer of 2010 that I was introduced to CrossFit, and it quickly became my new passion. A few girls and I would meet at my old high school and write up our own wods.

My introduction to CrossFit was watching the 2011 Reebok CrossFit games rerun on ESPN2. After watching Julie Foucher handstand walk a football field, I was immediately hooked. I searched the nearest CrossFit gym and signed myself up for my first introductory class at Badger CrossFit that Saturday and 10 months later I’m writing this. I’ve been participating in sports since I came out of the womb. 15 years of gymnastics competition and coaching…

I discovered CrossFit with my wife Mary during the summer of 2012. We did a partner WOD together and have been hooked ever since. Crossfit has helped fill a void that had been missing since my days as a collegiate basketball player. I love how there is always something to get better at and individuals can easily measure progress and see how much they are improving. Coaching at Badger has brought me back to my days when I used to coach at basketball camps and summer leagues…

CrossFit was introduced to me in Hawaii while serving on active duty in the United States Navy from 2009 – 2013. The strong sense of community – and aloha spirit – I discovered through the sport immediately hooked me into this new wave of functional fitness. I completed my first CrossFit Open in Afghanistan in 2012, and after returning immediately began to pursue personal aspirations as both a competitor and certified trainer.

I came to CrossFit in 2012 after a short stint of college basketball was over. Looking for something to keep me active and my competitive spirit alive, I began going to MTM CrossFit in North Canton, Ohio. I was hooked from my first class. The community of CrossFit is like none other. Everyday, you know that the person next to you will be going through the same thing the whole time and they’ll be there to help push you through it. I was fortunate enough to begin coaching…

I first discovered CrossFit while watching the CrossFit Games at work on ESPN in 2012 and thought, “THAT is freakin’ awesome!” It took me until October 1, 2013 to actually give it a try. I came in slightly intimidated, then I saw the WOD – Angie (100 reps each of Pull-ups, Push-Ups, Sit-ups, and Air Squats for time), I started with a big head thinking, “this is going to be easy…” that, most certainly, was not the case. It was humbling, exhausting, and…

CrossFit has transformed me both physically and mentally. I was a college athlete (swimming & lacrosse) and to be able say that today (almost 20-years later) that I am in the best shape of my life speaks volumes to what this discipline can do for all of us even after we think we can’t be any better than we once were. I’m eager to come into the box everyday and help others discover all their potential, as I have. So many great coaches have been there for me…

A guy at the office had a picture of himself doing CrossFit on his desk, I asked him what it was all about and that’s how I was introduced to CrossFit. My first WOD was at Badger in November 2014. Over the years I have tried a number of things like strength training, kickboxing, and running, all of which got boring and had minimal returns. Since starting CrossFit, I have never looked back. There is always something to improve on (besides just adding more weight)…

Badger CrossFit has been my one and only home since starting CrossFit at the urging of close friend back in 2013. The programming, coaches and community at Badger immediately had an impact and got me hooked. With a background in both soccer and basketball, CrossFit gave me the competitive release that had been missing since my playing days. After being around for over 3 years, I felt the need to give back to the community by providing the same level of coaching…

I coach because I believe weightlifting has the ability to transform people’s lives in a profound way. Success is directly related to perseverance and hard work, and when someone fights through the hard times and succeeds, it can change how they see themselves and the world. The movements themselves are also beautiful when executed well, and I am passionate about helping people perfect their lifting and experience that feeling. I played team sports…

I have been involved in athletics my entire life. When I finished playing college football it felt like I was missing something. I started looking for ways to fill [the football] void when a friend introduced me to Crossfit. I was immediately hooked. Crossfit helped me scratch my competitive itch and provided a sense of community that I missed from playing team sports. Soon after that I met Tyler, joined Badger CrossFit and earned my L1.
