One of my favorite lifting memories was PRing my clean in a local team competition hitting 205#. One skill I’m proud of that I learned as an adult was learning to handstand walk. I signed up for the Granite Games with two others and was unable to handstand walk during the qualifying workouts. In the time leading up to the competition, I practiced everyday and was able to walk 60 feet in ten foot increments in a workout.

Qualifications

CF L2 - took this course after taking a few year hiatus from coaching and was proud of myself for challenging myself to learn something new versus take the L1 again to play it safe.

I’ve played sports since I was six years old and learned so much about life, teamwork and discipline along the way. Through my high school years, I was a three-sport athlete playing basketball, volleyball and soccer. Two highlights from my high school career were making it to the state finals for soccer my senior year and because it was the same day as graduation, I had the honor of graduating on the field after the game with my best friends.

The other highlight is being inducted into my high school hall of fame in 2025 alongside my dad. I went on to play collegiate basketball at UW-Parkside. I spent a few years after my college career came to an end, hoping to find something to fill the void, which is when CrossFit came into my life. I instantly fell in love with the sport and the pursuit of being a better me everyday.

I spent many years being defined by my performance - whether I made or missed a shot or how fast I could run, or if I could handle the pressure of taking a penalty kick or not.

CrossFit transformed my outlook to not feel defined by my wins and losses, but rather to focus on getting 1% better each day and having the opportunity to compete in a sport that focuses on me and competing against myself. This has created a mindset of being patient with the process and discipline will always trump motivation.

I want everyone in my classes to feel like that was the best hour of their day. Whether it was because they felt encouraged and challenged or they felt like something I said impacted them positively in some way. I want everyone to feel my passion for sport in every class I teach and I want everyone to feel like CrossFit is accessible to them.
