I'm going to quote one of my athletes tonight as this explains exactly why we did this workout. Man, do I love this gym, I love the people, and I love WHY we do this stuff. We don't just care about ourselves, we care about others, even while getting our asses kicked. Everyone should be so proud of what they did tonight. They cannot breathe, so we do, hard, to honor them. I wish I didn't have to make this WOD up.
I did a workout tonight at Badger CrossFit that didn't exist before last Friday and I absolutely hated it. I didn't hate it because it was too hard or caused too much pain. I didn't hate it every time I picked myself up off the floor to complete another burpee. Or when my hands were aching from the weight of the kettle-bell, no that was worth it. I hated every time I did the 26th rep. of each movement and thought of those lost at Sandy Hook.It breaks my heart to think of those families but I had to press on. And that's what we all have to do, in our own way. Some will pray, some will take action, but we all will grieve. I choose to honor them with my blood, sweat and tears.I really wish I never had the opportunity to do this workout.
With that, I will say that this workout caused more than 11 people to puke. I've never seen this in my life or in all my time CrossFitting and coaching. Two conclusions as to why this happened: 1) You were pushing yourselves harder than before for the 26 who died and/or 2) your partner was forcing you outside your comfort zone. Either way, it was a great workout and I'm proud we did this as a gym and I'm proud of every one of you. God Bless those the 26 of "Sandy Hook."Partner WOD: "Sandy Hook"Row 2600m as partners, then...3 Rounds of:26 KB Swings (55/35)26 pushups26 Box Jumps (24/20)26 Burpees26 Partner Med-ball situps (20/14)Partners CAN work at the same time but EACH ATHLETE must complete 26 reps of the movement before going to next. Just get the work done and be amongst friends.[learn_more caption="NEWS"]NOTE: I need everyone to ensure their contact information, email addresses, phone #s, etc. are all up to date and correct in our online system.
