The following is a quote from a buddy and owner of another CF gym. His words are wise and true, and I hope that we all take this into consideration:
Feb. 12th - 10 days from the release of the first Open WOD. How are you feeling? Pretty darn good I hope. Now is not the time to be banged up if you're competing.
I’ve seen many people in the past start to get excited at this point in anticipation for The Open. What do they start doing? 2 wods a day, train 6 days a week. That is a recipe for disaster at this point. The hay is in the barn. Consider this; how much better can you get in 10 days? The truth…not much. What you can do is recover, continue to work, but work smart. There should be no PRs on the deadlift or the back squat in the next 10 days. Get those double unders smooth, box jumps the same, work skill progressions. Should you still be lifting and training? Sure. Super Heavy and high volume, NO!
The bottom line…”steady as she goes”, get your mind right.
I like this idea; Constant State of Readiness.
For those that are competing, we will be be having an informational meeting next weekend for about 5-10 minutes before the Saturday WOD. Please come if you are planning to compete! If you cannot make this, please see me before any WOD next week.If you still have not signed up for the CrossFit Games 2012, visit games.crossfit.com to sign up.
