[caption id="attachment_4328" align="alignnone" width="485"] Dan Mitchell - CF Endurance Coach, fast runner, house-party hoster.[/caption]Name: Dan MitchellHometown:West Bend, WisconsinAge: 43CrossFitting since: September 2011Favorite WOD or movement: Murph. Anything with running, jumping, medium weight.Least favorite WOD or movement: Anything overhead. Snatch and overhead squats mostly. What is your fitness background? What were you doing before CrossFit? I was a high school and collegiate distance runner. After college, I threw myself into bike racing. Steady improvement got me up to a Category 1 racer, or semi-pro. I was already too old for any pro teams to show any interest in me. I stayed in bike racing until 2004, when on a whim. I signed up for Ironman Wisconsin. I stayed in tris until 2011, but battled some injuries and boredom. How did you get into CrossFit? Upon burning out in tris, an article on Crossfit in Triathlete Magazine sparked an interest. Shortly thereafter, an article on BCF appeared in the local Tosa Times. The rest is history. How have you changed since starting Badger CrossFit? Weight redistribution, rediscovered love of biking and running. What are your goals for 2012? Where are you in terms of achieving them? I am still focused on my last Ironman in Septemer, and I intend to use CF as the foundation of my training. I would like to continue to check off boxes of movements that I struggle with such as pullups, snatch, rope climbs, and 70 lb kettlebell. What makes Badger CrossFit unique? The people: diversity in ages, views, lifestyles. Yet it all works.Any best BCF stories? I really enjoyed watching Kelly curl in high-heeled boots. What advice do you have for people just getting started? Don't quit. Don't be intimidated. It still hurts just as much now as when I started, but I recover more quickly and love coming back for more.
